What is a Holds Locker?

What is a Holds Locker?

Answer

A Holds Locker is a convenient way to pick up your requested library materials (holds). Place holds on items online and select one of the Lockers as your pickup location. Once you have been notified that your items are ready for pickup, you may pick up your items from the Locker.

Can I return my items in a Holds Locker?

Holds Lockers cannot accept returns. Please use the book drop at a Houston Public Library location for returning your library materials.

How do I select a Locker for my holds?

When you are placing a hold on an item from the library’s catalog, select one of the following Holds Locker locations:

  • LOCKER – Carverdale Community Center
  • LOCKER – Robinson-Westchase, 24/7 access
  • LOCKER – Henington-Alief
Are there any library items that will not fit in the Holds Locker compartment?

Depending on their size, some library materials, including FLIP Kits, may not fit in the locker. Library staff will notify you if a material does not fit in the locker, and they will provide alternative pick-up options.

How many items can one Holds Locker compartment fit?

It depends on the size of the items. Each compartment can hold roughly 4-5 standard-sized adult books.

  • Carverdale Community Center Locker has 36 compartments
  • Henington-Alief Locker has 81 compartments
  • Robinson-Westchase Locker has 36 compartments
Where are the Holds Lockers located?
Three locations have Holds Lockers where you can pick up your library materials.

  • The Robinson-Westchase Locker is located at 3223 Wilcrest Dr, Houston, TX 77042, just to the right of the library’s front door, next to the book return. This locker is accessible 24/7!
