Where can I find the Short Story Dispensers?

Where can I find the Short Story Dispensers?

HPL has not fully deployed the Short Story Dispensers yet, but you can tryout the test dispenser in One Allen Center next to our BOOKLink in downtown Houston. Look for one at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and one at the William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) coming soon.

What are they?

The Short Story Dispensers are kiosks that will print out a random 1-5 minute short story or comic based on the category you selected: Kid, Teen, or Adult story.

Do I have to check out a story or use my library card?

No, the story prints as soon as you select the audience button on a receipt-style paper and it is yours to keep. Think of it as a sneak peak at the stories waiting for you at the library!

How many stories can be dispensed?

There are about 275 stories that can be dispensed from the machine so far. Short-Edition, which is the maker of the Short Story Dispenser adds new stories to the collection quarterly, so the number of stories will continue to grow!

Where can I find more Short Story Dispensers?

You can find Short Story Dispensers almost everywhere in the world. To see all the current and upcoming locations, check out their map: Find a Dispenser Near You - Short Édition (short-edition.com)

Can I submit my own short story?

HPL does not currently accept local submissions to our dispenser. If you’d like your short story to be published to all Short Story Dispensers around the world, submit your short story or comic manuscript to Short Circuit (https://short-edition.com/en/submit).
