How do I volunteer at the HHRC?

How do I volunteer at the HHRC?

Answer

You can apply to volunteer through the Houston Public Library (steps below), or you may reach out to the History Research Centers directly.

Who?
Students, parents, working people, retirees, anyone fourteen years of age and over can help Houston Public Library deliver a variety of quality services to its public of over two million area residents.
What?
Collection assistants, technology assistants, and program assistants are some of the volunteer assignment.
Where?
Central Library, Special Collections libraries or any of 33 other convenient locations serving Houston neighborhoods.
When?
Volunteers are needed six days a week, whenever the Houston Public Library is open. Evenings and weekends are the busiest times, but the library can accommodate most schedules. You may also assist as a seasonal volunteer during spring break, summer or holiday season.
Why?
Community needs for Houston Public Library's educational, recreational, and informational services are continually increasing. Working together, volunteers and paid staff can help meet these increased demands despite a limited budget. Not only can volunteers help the library -it's a two-way street. Volunteers acquire new skills, meet interesting people and experience the satisfaction of sharing their talents with others.
How?
Special effort is made to match the interests of volunteers with their work assignments. Explore opportunities to work with children, share library information, process materials, or assist with special projects. Volunteering at Houston Public Library is one way you CAN make a difference!
